TFC: “V” has quite a following. How did you take to being the leader for a while in the series?
DR: I worked with some terrific people on “V.” I have remained friends with several of the cast members. Playing the diabolical leader of the lizards was a thrilling, chilling role to play.
TFC: How do you handle your fan mail?
DR: With gratitude. I am always flattered when people show their appreciation for my work by writing to me. Fan letters are always welcome.
TFC: With all your travels,
where is your favorite place you have been?
DR: There are so many wonderful locations to choose from. Being a very private person, I tend to seek out unusual places, remote places, places of anonymity. I’m always up for an adventure. I love Europe and the British Isles.
TFC: Do you have any hobbies?
DR: My work tends to monopolize my time. However, I do enjoy hiking and
mountain climbing. Fencing, horseback riding, etc. are enjoyable endeavors but
they are often part of my work as an actor.
TFC: With all of your talents, writing, painting, and acting, what other
field would you be interested in?
DR: A director. I’ve done some directing and I hope to do more in the future.
TFC: Which has been more successful for you, painting or acting?
DR: Both mediums have been fulfilling on all levels. They tend to balance and complement each other.
TFC: Were you pleased with your role in “V?”
DR: Yes, Charles was a very
campy character to play and therefore a lot of fun. I think there are many more
things that could have been done with the role.
TFC: Playing a lizard in “V,” what was your favorite food?
DR: Small, naughty children make a nice snack, but Charles’ favorite
feast is to savor three beautiful women all at once, preferably dressed as the
Three Graces and served a la crème.
TFC: With Jane Badler playing Diana as a hungry, power-driven alien
lizard, how did you take it when you became her mate in the episode “The
Rescue?”
DR: Jane is a great lady. I
was delighted to be her mate.
TFC: If you had the choice all over again, would you have married Lydia
or Diana?
DR: Why not both?
